S296: A Closer Look at Jurassic Park in Splash Spring 2020 (Apr. 18, 2020)
Jurassic Park is the quintessential dinosaur movie, and spawned an entire franchise based on the idea of reverse-engineering dinos from fossils. But how much of the science behind the park is true? What did they get wrong? More importantly, is a real Jurassic Park in our future? We will analyze the science in the movie and make predictions about the future of biotech.


H208: The Birth and Legacy of the Atomic Bomb in Splash Fall 2019 (Nov. 16, 2019)
We will discuss the history of the Manhattan Project, how Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard convinced FDR to build atomic bombs, and the legacy of the legendary WWII research project.


H144: A Series of (Un)fortunate Events: How One Letter Ended a War and Started a Revolution in Splash Fall 2018 (Nov. 10, 2018)
In this course, we will discuss how the Einstein-Szilard Letter set off a chain of events, including the formation of the Manhattan Project, the creation of the National Laboratory system, the invention, testing, and subsequent use of the atomic bomb, and post-war disarmament and peace efforts.
