Tsar Peter the Great is known for bringing "backwards Russia" to the European Stage. However, He also tortured and killed a ton of people including his son. But he also founded St. Petersburg, a city described to be the "Venice of the North". Except he did that by building the city upon the bones of peasants. But he also highhandedly created a Russian Navy and significantly increased Russia's power in Europe. But he also got notoriously drunk at diplomatic parties and damaged a lot of property. Who exactly is this guy? Does he matter at all? Who even knows? Come learn and discuss the life and works of Peter the Great.
