H174: The Aims of Education in Splash Spring 2019 (Apr. 13, 2019)
"When am I ever going to use this in real life?" This course will examine the philosophy of education over history and the various ideas of what the aims of education should be.


S143: The Science of Learning in Splash Fall 2018 (Nov. 10, 2018)
What is learning? How can we learn better? This class aims to answer these questions. We will use psychology, cognitive science, and educational research to evaluate what learning consists of and discuss how we can make improvements to our own individual learning, rather it be for learning a new skill, studying for a test, or just improving overall as a student.


S111: Thinking Spatially in Splash Spring 2018 (Feb. 24, 2018)
Should schools have mandatory Tetris time? Can playing with legos help you with quantum physics? This class explores spatial thinking - the ability to mentally represent and analyze 3D objects and spatial relations. We will define what spatial thinking is, how it is tested, how it can be improved, and the educational applications.
